Samuel Whitbread, founder of the brewing business, was born in the main house in 1720 and it remained within the Whitbread family until 1890s, becoming a hotel in 1987.

However, please be aware that on these dates, the hotel will be hosting a disco, therefore the hotel may be noisy and public areas may be busy.
