Dating back to the late 1800s, The Ethorpe Hotel started life as a private residence. A Buckinghamshire census of 1891 records the Bellairs family living here along with their domestic staff. Abbram Ennis a stockbroker, was the head of the family and the house was simply known as Ethorpe. The first record of the house becoming a licensed hotel was in 1924. |  |

| Built along one of the great coaching roads between London and Oxford, this hotel, dating back to 1688, has undergone significant improvements while still reflecting its long established historic heritage. The hotel boasts a long connection with the tales of highwaymen and famous stagecoaches. Overlooking the picturesque village common at Gerrards Cross, the main roads are readily accessible. Heathrow and central London are within easy reach and the hotel is also a mile from the mainline train station. The central situation is ideal for Legoland, Windsor Castle, Hampton Court, Woburn Abbey and Safari Park, Blenheim Palace, the racing at Ascot and Kempton Park. Many of the tastefully decorated rooms overlook the village common or the gardens. In addition there are four-poster bedrooms for that special occasion, state-of-the-art bedrooms for the discerning businessman and luxurious suites with sitting rooms. The hotel also includes a conservatory lounge and a Jack Shrimptons bar. Refurbishment work is still continuing with Beeches Restaurant just opened, and additional bedrooms and meeting rooms in progress. This work is taking place away from the main hotel and is due to be completed in early summer.
