The Hand Hotel, Gledrid

Church Street, Gledrid, Clwyd, LL14 5EY

Rating:

Built in 1610 during the reign of James I, this hotel is one of the oldest in north-east Wales and has been tastefully modernised without losing its historical character. The hotel was initially a coaching inn serving the Shrewsbury to Betws-y-Coed section of the London to Holyhead coaching route. Now under new management, the owners have striven to revive the hotel’s former glory. Staff aim to offer a high standards in their food, beverages and accommodation, as well as an added personal touch. The hotel offers many amenities which cater for all kinds of guests including families, walkers, and business executives. Special attention will be paid to each guest’s individual needs and requirements.

For many centuries, The Hand Hotel was a coaching inn for the travellers from London to Dublin. The hotel still offers a very warm atmosphere and has earned itself a good reputation for its great service. The bars offer a relaxing and happy atmosphere and the Brewery Suite caters for dinners, conferences and weddings. In the warmer months, the garden provides a lovely setting for champagne weddings and buffets. The residents’ lounge is a snug room for residents only. The room is situated close to the lounge bar, and also has access to music facilities. Use the residents’ lounge to escape the busy bustle of our public bar. The Regency restaurant is a suburb period room with a late 1800s style. The room is classical, grand and impressive, and can accommodate up to 60 people. The Castle Room is an open, casual room located at the heart of the hotel, which offers soft, subtle background music and is the ideal setting for your breakfast.
