There are many beautiful walks in this part of the Eden Valley, from the valley bottoms to the fell tops, varying in length from a few miles to over 15 miles. On many of them you can walk a whole day and not see another person! Popular walks are along the Raven Beck, the Nunnery Walks, Croglin Water and to Long Meg and Lacy's Caves along the banks of the River Eden. This is also a good area for cycling and pony trekking. This licensed country guest house is situated just 3 kilometres (2 miles) from junction 40 of the M6/A66, offering you a small, luxurious and homely alternative to regular travel accommodation. Some hotels and guesthouses can be very impersonal and soulless, treating each guest as little more than a name or number. At The White House, we are evry different, focusing our efforts on providing a personal and unique service, where all our guests are treated as individuals. So if you are tired of normal characterless accommodation give us a try and you will not be disappointed. A licensed non smoking bar is on site and meals are available each evening.

Family Run Licenced Country Guest House set in rural area just outside Penrith and only 2 miles from M6 junction 40 and A66 East and West, making it an ideal stopover location. All our double , Family and Twin rooms have views over the front gardens and the countryside beyond. Meals are available from our residents bar between 18.00 and 21.00 with last orders for food at 20.30. We like to support our local food producers wherever possible and all our bacon , sausages an Black pudding come from Bellas butchers of Shap. Mr Bellas has won awards for his Cumberland Sausage. We also provide the option of trying locally produced Jersey Milk ( when available ) this is produced by a herd of Jersey cows in the village. The hotel aims to make your stay an enjoyable one, where you feel at home and well cared for. There are no strangers here , only friends that we have not yet met. Please note we are not able to accept American Express.
