The Mortal Man has enjoyed its long established position in the rugged fells of Troutbeck valley since 1689. Accommodation, which includes luxury four-poster rooms, offer superb comfort and glorious views of the Troutbeck valley. The residents lounge and 2 adjoining bars offer the perfect place to relax, complete with glorious log fires. The bars offer a cosy atmosphere where you may enjoy a light lunch or in the evening sample the real traditional ales and many malt whiskies on offer. Dinner is also available in the evening, with a bar or à la carte restaurant menus available.

The hotel offers both room only and dinner or bed and breakfast rates. As the hotel is situated in the Troutbeck valley, it attracts a lot of walkers. Therefore dogs are also welcome at The Mortal Man (at an additional cost).

Please note that guests staying for 2 nights or more receive free unlimited use of Parklands Country Club: the leisure facilities indicated as available are at Parklands, with windsurfing and other water-sports available at the lake. Although Cambridge House is in a town centre location, 5-minutes in either direction bring you to heart-stopping beauty and breathtaking views. Though the guest house does not have a car park, parking permits for safe on-road parking can be provided (subject to availability).
