Best Western Moffat House Hotel, Moffat

High Street, Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway, DG10 9HL

Rating:

This 18th-century building has been careful renovated to offer modern amenities whilst retaining its charm and elegance. Situated on the High Street of Moffat, there are various quaint shops, cafes and and interesting buildings to explore. Moffat is found just off the M74 motorway between Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh, close to Gretna Green. The hotel offers, thus, a convenient place to rest before venturing further into Scotland or travelling south. The charming surroundings and fine cuisine are enough, however, to bring you here in the first place. 'Fresh local produce and hospitable staff are the highlights of this gracious Adams mansion.' EatScotland - 2005

Enjoy formal dining in the award winning Hopetoun’s Restaurant or casual lounge meals, lunches and suppers. Both offer fresh local produce and home cooking. There is a fine selection of wines to compliment your meal. The library bar offers a vast array of malt whisky and beer to choose from, which you can enjoy by a log fire in chilly winter evenings. In summer, you can enjoy a coffee on the sun lounge which opens out onto beautiful gardens.

Balmoral Hotel, Moffat

High Street, Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway, DG10 9DL

Rating:

This small country inn is situated in the centre of Moffat, a former spa town where national bard Robert Burns was one of the many visitors who came here to take the waters. For walking enthusiasts, Moffat lies at the midpoint of the Southern Upland Way and is an excellent base to explore this part of Scotland. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Galloway and the Lake District are all within easy reach. The inn is fully licensed and offers great food from 07:00 till 21:30 every day.

Our hotel has been rated a three star Inn by Visit Scotland and the AA where anyone can come and enjoy a relaxing stay, whether it is in the main building or in one of the cottages, where you will have complete privacy. We have probably the busiest restaurant in and around Moffat. On arrival at the inn please make your way to the lounge bar and one of our hotel staff will show you to your room/cottage.

Annandale Arms Hotel, Moffat

High Street, Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway, DG10 9HF

Rating:

Only a minute off the motorway (M74), the Annandale Arms Hotel offers you a truly warm Scottish welcome. Set in the centre of the attractive and popular village of Moffat, you can enjoy the tranquility. We have a first class restaurant serving the best of local produce, from Buccleuch Estates beef to organic lamb from Glen Ken. Our salmon, trout and scallops are as good as Scotland gets. The cellar boasts some 100 bins with a selection of 50 malt whiskies. The hotel's convenient position in the centre of the village, but with its close proximity to the countryside, makes it a perfect base to explore the hills and glens of historic southern Scotland. The imposing Georgian façade encapsulates all that is best in traditional Scottish hospitality. This has been recognised formally by the award of the Les Routiers Gold Key 2001 for 'hotels who achieve a level of excellence above and beyond that of merely 'very good''. If you wish to visit Edinburgh or Glasgow, they are both only one hour away by car.
