Originally a 19th Century mansion, now a meeting venue, Longhirst Hall is located near Morpeth, 18 miles north of Newcastle and only 2 miles from the A1. It is an ideal base for exploring the Northumbrian coastline and visiting Alnwick Castle, the setting for Hogwarts School in the magical Harry Potter films. Set in private grounds and woodland, it offers a host of leisure activities such as two 18 hole golf courses and other sports facilities such as cricket, football, hockey and tennis plus a fitness room PLEASE NOTE - OUR SAUNA & SPA POOL ARE CURRENTLY OUT OF SERVICE. There is a choice of dining options ranging from the formal Boyson Restaurant specialising in local Northumberland produce, cream tea in the fabulous Drawing Room to lounge service food in the bar. Longhirst Hall has 77 comfortable en suite bedrooms located in a modern extension block behind the old house, in quiet area away from the public areas and car parks. The hotel offers an ideal location for those wishing to explore the Northumberland countryside and coastline. Located only an hour's drive from the borders, the hotel is also a perfect starting point for trips into Scotland. The Queens Head Hotel has 3 function rooms that accommodate from 16 to 130 guests. Hotel facilities include a 24 hour reception and licenced bar. Newcastle and the MetroCentre are only 15 miles away, and easily accessible by bus and rail. Within the town of Morpeth, there are many shops, bars and restaurants to explore. The Queens Head Hotel is located in the town centre, within easy walking distance of local buses and the train station. Morpeth is a historic market town with lovely river walks and picturesque parks. As from 1st July 2007 this is a non-smoking hotel by law. All room rates are inclusive of full English or continental breakfast. On-site is the Hotel Ridley Bar, Burnt Orange Cafe Bar and HQ late night Bar. Breakfast is served Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 08:30 and Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays from 08:00 to 10:00. Breakfast, evening meals and Sunday lunch are served in The Dugdale Restaurant, where non-residents are welcome to dine. Please book to avoid disappointment. Please note that on every Friday and Saturday night, the last Wednesday of the month and Sunday nights of bank holiday weekends, there is a bar/disco which is open until 02:00. This may cause some noise to be heard from some bedrooms, depending on your location in the hotel.
